Going Tidal Advice Needed

Sorry... but the more I think about this the less I like it.
Inexperience/Weather/Wash/Outside temps and daylight are all against you and your boat has very small reserves of power to punch tide if you get delayed..If those nippers both go in the drink for any reason ,who is going to get which one first and with water temps going down to near freeezing,you will need to be bloody quick.Think you should maybe leave the nippers behind or preferably suspend the trip.
Get a day ticket on the Clippers .

I think we have crossed wires here. My kids are not coming with me it is just me and a mate. I appreciate your concern I realy do thank you.

As far as I see it the worst that can happen is I sink the boat we are both wearing life jackets having spent many years in Canada I have been artic trained and conditioned to with an inch of my life so I feel fairly confident I could swim ashore while carrying my mate.

If for any reason I start to feel unconftable I will turn back. I have flown light aircraft and helicopters for a number of years and this practise is not sexy or cool but it has kept me out of harms way.

Best to get a dual or tri watch set up on your VHF if you can, I have a tri-watch set up so I normally have the radio on channel 6 as the boats we travel with normally use this as a general channel to converse on, then also have it monitoring channel 14 for the PLA in that area, and also channel 16. Give the marina a call on the radio when you get around the Belfast or Tower Bridge area on channel 80 to let them know you are on the way and where you are so they can get the lock ready for you. I have some life jackets you can borrow, let me know when you are going and how many you are after and I'll drop them on the boat. Have a great trip!

OK,all understood.Had visions of a young keen boater with 2 x toddlers aboard and no idea of just how fast things can go wrong,even in the relatively sheltered inland waters.
