After a couple of trips with a chum, sailing out of Faversham I'm tempted to do some exploring.

I have a week to get up from Rye and back. So, the Medway is my oyster.

Where should I go, what should I avoid - nice anchorages, moorings and maybe a marina and a pleasant pub?

Should I bring mirrors, beads and blankets for the Islanders? What do they have to trade?

Should I buy the pilot book?

Await you encouragement to explore a little corner of our coast.

Oh have a bilge keel and we need 1,2m!

Sharfleet creek worth a visit
then Medway Yacht Club @ Upnor
Dont miss a visit to Chatham Docks

Wot he said

plus

Don't stop at Queenborough

If you go ashore at Upnor then the castle is worth a visit with a good illuminated and narrated telling of the Dutch invasion.

(Historic Naval Dockyard at Chatham is a full day job and very interesting)

Just a thought.

If you stopover at Ramsgate on the way up, Harty Ferry is a lovely anchorage for the first night.

You could then work through to the Medway round the back of the island .

Am a huge fan of the whole area. Loads of history and never a dull moment.

Sure you will have a great time.
