dog.jpg Does anyone recognise this dog? Found swimming between Tersane and Tomb bay and rescued by a passing boat. Not been reported missing by owner so very much looks as though been dumped overboard. Several Gocek skippers would love to meet up with this person to have a gentle word in their ears - after seperating them from their head

Good morning:

I believe your post makes an awful lot of assumptions in deciding that this dog was dumped at sea. While I have no idea as to how it reached where it was found I think one would need some evidence that it was actually dumped before making the decision that this is what led to it's discovery at sea.

You mention that it's loss has not been reported - to whom would you expect it's loss to have been reported and even if there was someone to whom it's loss could be reported is it realistic to expect it to be reported within a few hours.

Think you might have acquired a new crew member - looks like a nice dog.

Cheers

Squeaky

I believe that somewhere in Gocek there is a centre that cares for stray dogs. You see very few during the day but in the evenings they come out and most beg for titbits at the restaurants, but all look well cared for and have tags. Has that dog got an ear tag? I suggest you talk to one of the restaurateurs as they probably know who looks after the local dogs.

Very sorry to hear this.

Unless you or the persons who rescued the dog actually saw with there own eyes the dog being dumped in the water. Then this is just all hearsay. It will lead to speculation and false accusation.

I wonder - is kapitankrunchie the same person who wrote (and then removed) on the CA website, a diatribe about Dutch charterers' children throwing kittens in the water?

The posts have a curious similarity, hearsay, assumption and righteous RSPCA indignation.

We had a similar experience some years back in the bay behind Kapi Creek near Gocek. I will spare the details as it was very upsetting, but the dog drowned before we could save it. It was old and blind, and seemed deaf. It was swimming close to the rocks and we believe had been thrown in from the land. Anyone with a boat would surely have gone out to sea a bit.

We assumed it was a botched attempt to euthanise it.

Charles, I have sent you a PM. Please read and reply. I think your accusation is better dealt with in this manner

Sorry, but the words "so very much looks as though been dumped overboard" are not by any stretch of the imagination hearsay. They are, and indeed have already led to, speculation.
