Have been dealing with some major retail multiples and really have been struggling with some of the language they now use in meetings! I am truly lost half the time, however someone recommended this site http://www.buzzwhack.com/ which has saved my bacon a couple of times.

Any one else come across this sort of bo****ks in meetings etc? a sample taken from the above site:

"Customers leveraging the Asera platform will have the ability to seamlessly integrate real-time product knowledge into their enterprise eBusiness environments. Architected to provide tighter integration and deeper collaboration, the Asera Solution will enable global manufacturers to recognize greater results from collaboration, streamline efficiencies in the supply chain, and reduce costs." !!!!!

Ahhh yes ASDA! Do they still insist on having their business meetings standing up so they don't last too long?

My son has just started uni in Portsmouth and is looking for a job to help him (us!!!!!!!) out. This thread has just reminded me of an interview he went to around this time last year for a job in Asda in the marina during the Christmas period.

He went for the interview, part of which was to work within a group of 5 others to building a nativity stable model out of the materials they were given. The adjudicators were all walking around the room where the groups were working. Sam said people in the same group as him picked up various bits and pieces of materials and tried making the model. Sam introduced himself to each of them and explained that they weren't actually being marked on the model they were creating but on how well they work together as a team.

They were all taken on, apart from him. Go figure !!!!!!!!!!!

I suspect the ability to think is not high on the list of requirements for Walmart employees. . . . . . .

As britemp said, thinking for oneself is not allowed. Probably cos then you threaten the management and you won't follow instructions like a drone! We've a large Asda near us. Without being rude to the staff, they're not exactly Mastermind material.

I shall be in there during the next few days and will communicate your views to the management.......I find their spare rib racks absolutely delicious and have never seen a shop assistant I fancied on Masternind anyway /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Oh dealing with the "Customer Services", and I use the term loosely, you almost have to spell things out! On the whole, as you've already noted, some of the younger female staff are pleasant to look at. I find they're normally working at the weekends.......so thats jailbait then!

The standing meeting is not as prevalent as it used to be ( though perhaps in-store) but up at ASDA House (HO) they meet in casual areas around coffee bars. The intention being to keep them brief and informal. However, in my experience the reason they are so brief is it always turns out that the person you are speaking with doesn't actually take any responsibility for that particular decision/area - half a day later ASDA have not moved their position but you are so sick of coffee, you give up and try to escape.

Always feel sorry for people having to try and sell goods in to them, I have seen them peddling their wares in the foyer in five minute sales pitches - tough, but then you should see Costco in action.....

Next day I signed up Cable & Wireless UK-wide and pocketed enough commission to pay off my mortgage! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
