glue ing davit pads - tips please

Polymarine solvent is MEK and is more aggressive than acetone. Having just reglued sections back on to a PVC Zodiac that is sun damaged (by previous owner) i would not use isopropyl alcohol, as the acetone or MEK actually softens the PVC to enable to glue to work better, it's not about having the surface clean (although obviously it does need to be).

I have cleaned my inflatable with acetone, and MEK and if gluing I would be using the polymarine solvent as per instructions on the can and by firefly.

Interestingly a cheap source of MEK is PVC solvent weld pipe primer (primer not the glue) as this contains a high proportion of MEK.

As a side, it also restores sun damaged PVC rub rail that has gone slimey due to the plasticisers coming to the surface, takes a bit of scrubbing a a litre or so of priming fluid, but it looks like new again!

I have the hooks attached to the swim platform so just need the pads. £200 for the pair is the cheapest I have found thus far, is that what others are paying?
