Gludy's New Boat

The front of the bow only has a few inches in the water so the bow thruster open an underwater hatch and and drops down to give it some depth .... very James Bond style.

There is a lot of windage in a marina and so we did that and full radio controls of thruster, engines and anchor so that it made it easier for the two of us.

What a beautiful boat, great video too!

As most on here that have seen the 'history channel.' I really hope 'Suliere' meets with your expectations and that she sails as well as she looks!

Safe sailing on her next year.

Ps. pleased to you support Raymarine. ;)

Great video - congratulations!

I'll think of you, and the new boat, wherever you might be, the next time I "cill-in" to Emsworth - especially if it's raining ;-)

How do you ever get enough money for a beautiful boat like that, i am jealous beyond beleif. Please give me some tips on getting rich!

"'ll think of you, and the new boat, wherever you might be, the next time I "cill-in" to Emsworth - especially if it's raining ;-)"

Since 6th December 2005 when that boat arrived at Emsworth we managed to get to know the area very well. In fact Lesley became very attached to the place ,,,, just a pity we could not have a proper boat to do some boating in the area!!

There is still some of that saga to run its course in a very public way.

Its really been a long road since then to the launch of this boat, a very long road with a Marlow style hiccup on the way. So we only hope all goes smoothy now.

The pilgrims progress for us was to move from large planing hull boat to large semi-displacement boat. We liked the ride at about hull speed 8.5 knots but we then realised that we could go faster than that in a sailing cat, even under power! So we made the final move over to sail.... Suliere is the result.

As regards the question about wealth - the answer is that you work very hard all your life and earn every penny and then avoid the trap of being stuck in the railroad tracks of commerce and hence avoid working until you drop dead.

Many people sell up and cruise the world .... they are not wealthy people as the pirates have recently discovered!

We always liked Emsworth as well...it was just the Garden Shed that our "freinds" operated out of that put me off...as I said at the time. Glad I didnt buy that 41 that we looked at there.

Yes you stated the garden shed thing from day one!
It was not the shed but the people running it that was the problem!

Anyway its not over until the fat lady sings .... the book is not finished.

Thanks for the nice remarks about being back.

Whilst its not finished and will be a while before complete there is a blog under construction www.suliere.com - anyone can follow the adventure on that blog as a series of videos.

My MoBo heritage has come with me into sailing - things like the Stidd seat and the enclosed helm are all for creature comforts.

The previous St Francis 50 before mine managed over 23 knots on its way down to Cape Town - mine will be slower because it is much heavier.

Anyway in true Gludy my first trip is down to Cape Town through all those white shark infested waters and around The Cape of Good Hope (renamed from the Cape of Storms to encourage sailors to go around it!) .....on a new boat .... so what can possibly go wrong?
