Gludy's Boat in Build

Re: Gludy\'s Boat in Build

Its both in the GRP and painted.
The paint is needed because over time the blue GRP would fade and so when a repair was needed, be diffciult to match.

Yes I am glad I did ... I think it makes the boat!

Re: Gludy\'s Boat in Build

“How does the generator dry option work?”

One of the requirements for my new boat was that she must be able to dry out.
This extended my target ports a great deal – 9/10 harbours around here are drying harbours.

So the question was how to supply power/heat when dried out?

I have a 16kw central diesel heater – it works on a hot water distribution system with fan powered matrix’s all over the boat - that heats everything including the aft deck and fly bridge – this will also heat the hot water. This is in addition to reverse aircon which of course cannot be used when dried out. I also have a 2.9kw inverter feeding a number of sockets. In order to supply more power I have a 3kw Honda gene on the aft deck that is small and only pushes out 47db – this plugs into the shore socket – in effect I bring my own shore power supply with me.

A bit more info:-

I have crane on top to lift the jet rib onto the top – I am going for the Williams jet rib and am flogging my current Avon 320 jet rib if anyone is interested - the crane is rated 350kg so the Williams should just be managed.

I have gone for the a new self maintained electronic water maker that manages to keep itself up to scratch and has electronic control panel in the saloon.

Same for the main gene – I have the full electronic control panel in the saloon at the main switchboard.

I have gone for the Raymarine E120 system at all stations. I also went for the three station remote control that is plugged into a point on the fly bridge and a point each side of the aft deck.

With the E120 I have a number of camera connected so that I can view the engine room and stern when docking – plus I have underwater lighting.

I hope the above gives some flavour of the thought I have put into her.

Re: Gludy\'s Boat in Build

She looks fantastic. When's the launch party? I wonna keep the date clear in my diary... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: Gludy\'s Boat in Build

Well ... launch party or coming home party?

She arrives Emsworth about Mid November but all the electronics are simply hard wired in - not really installed properly - so all have to be installed and working, the diesel heating system gets put in, lots of other special jobs get done. legs to be fitted .... this could last for 2 months before she is really ready to bring home ... then I am doing a winter south coast stop over on the way back visiting the ports that we missed out when we took Drumbeat to Emsworth.

I have not been at all excited about this boat until the last week when it has actually become real....now I cannot wait, there are so many new toys to play with!

Just received another lot of photos but they show a lot of half done detail like the cooker half installed etc - seems almost as if it has gone backwards!

Re: Gludy\'s Boat in Build

keep `erm coming

.............

Re: Gludy\'s Boat in Build

Well I will be bringing her home to Swansea this winter and will be stopping at a fair number of places on the trip - anyone who wants to come and have a drink aboard would be welcome. I will give the list of harbours at the time.

Re: Gludy\'s Boat in Build

Yes ... I inherited a nice blue ensign ... but that would be naughty would it not?

Th reason I inherited it was because a previous owner was the member of a club that was allowed to fly them ... pay the money, get into the roayl club and you get one .....

Is there any enforceable law against flying one?

It really would look good - the hull is flag blue and so it, as you say begs for a blue ensign flag.

Re: Gludy\'s Boat in Build

Or you could be different and fly one of these...
