Just bought one of these and cannot find any instructions at all in the pack about the solderless connection.I know I can return it,and have read the posts from the beginning of the month but to save time can someone tell me how to do it?Many thanks, Peter. (Just fitted a wind thingy to it and could now tackle any hieroglyphic on earth!)

I have the documents relating to this antenna. There are 18 photos in blue monochrome that relate to the wind vane, but no information on wiring the solderless connection at the masthead. I vaguely remember sounding the depth of the socket in the base and cutting the coax cable to match it.

I fitted mine in 2003, and apart from a slight tendency for the wind vane to stick, it has not given any problems. I check SWR each year, however, I have never been entirely happy about the solderless connection being inaccessible at the top of the mast. I plan to fit a different antenna at the masthead, and move the Glomex onto the pushpit for AIS and backup.

The Glomex website is at www.glomex.it has a lot of information, although my quick search found nothing about the solderless base connection. You could email Glomex for help.

I fitted mine a couple of weeks ago, there were some instructions that I can email when I get back to Germany in just over a week, if you are stuck.

From memory (not always that reliable!) it involved stripping the inner cable 6mm back and then fold back the stripped wire. Then the outer cable should be stripped 17mm back and the outer wires pushed back, and then it was pretty self explanitory.

Thanks for your reply gj.As you say it goes against all my experience not to solder, however I notice a cut in the outer so that might be a clue as to screen length.Mast has to go up in the next couple of days so will see if any more suggestions appear before trying. Peter.
