Hi All,

I have failed to get a signal on my Glomex masthead TV aerial and wonder if anyone can shed some light on the problem.

I believe the area should get a decent digital signal and the coverage check online agrees. I have tried the TV connected at the chart table socket with no results, tried again with it connected directly to the feed at the bottom of the mast to bypass the various joints and still no results. I have one of these digital signal testers that has a series of lights which illuminate to give the signal strength. At the chart table socket it read nothing and then every 10 seconds one green light would flash (the light should be on constantly). Then tried it at the base of the mast and all 5 lights flashed every 5-10 seconds. So briefly it's getting full signal strength for less than a second and then dropping, the lights should be illuminated permanenetly and not just flashing every few seconds to show a consistent signal. This would explain why the television isn't receiving anything.

I have tried it through the Glomex booster which makes no difference/improvement. I have also tried it through a mains booster which again made no improvement.

The fact that it's only obtaining a signal briefly every 10 seconds makes me think that the aerial has had it but maybe others can confirm if this sounds correct?

I doubt whether it makes any difference but the aerial orientation should be vertical in this area rather than horizontal, as the Glomex claims to be omni directional then I guess this shouldn't matter.

Thanks

Matt.
