Has anyone got experience of using "Presto Gelcoat Rejuvenator" ? It looks like one of those too good to be true products but, hey, maybe it DOES work!.
As far as I can see, it's only available from US, anyone knows of a UK stockist also ?

I have occasionally fallen for the charms of the snake oil salesmen and their "instagleam" products claimed to turn chalky topsides etc into boatshow shinies without effort. I don't do it any more. There is no substitute for rubbing compound/polish and elbow grease or a respray if the finish is too far gone.

Being desperately optimistic I bought some off ebay from the states. Comes in a small bottle, hoped for the best but is was less effective than 'T' cut stuff. Mind you, my application is horribly faded red so paint is the only option (currently in progress).

It does polish up opaque perspex porthole windows though ...

I tried cutting and wax - lasted a few weeks, and a whole bunch of different polish. The solution if all else has failed is to try poliglow. http://www.poliglow.co.uk/

It is easy to use and my very faded hull is still great a year later. The guy is veru helpful and worth a call to talk things over.

Highly recommended.

i agree with weaverfish,POLIGLOW does do a good job on my dark red hull, though it needs a touch up at least once a year.dark colours like mine do seem to suffer with uv degradation more than light ones.

how lucky you get depends on the problem. If its grime, a cutting compound and polisher will work wonders, and not one of the useless car polishers, ok. And not by hand. If its oxydised, cutting back will help a bit, but nothing is going to repair a very thin gel. See A-galze on MBChat.
