With the storms at the start of January, we suffered some damage. Made a claim to GJW and they have been nothing but superb!!

From the start they have been a pleasure to deal with. Once we had all the information they had asked for, we got a settlement notice on the same day.

You never know how good your insurance is until you need it. I can now fully recommend GJW.
 
Good to hear! We are with them. As Mdl berth holders you get a discount and dedicated point of contact. All dealings I have had have been very good but not had to claim yet! Reassuring to know!!!
 
Agree with op we had a claim towards end of last season, they very efficiently sorted everything out without any hassle allowing us to get the boat back on the water and enjoy the end of the season

Glade to hear, we too are with GJW, started with them when I had my Fletcher many moons ago! what damage did you sustain?

Storm took our canopy out James. We are covered for storm damage to covers and canopies but even still I was expecting a bit of teeth sucking. Full marks to GJW, no arguing, just a few questions which we could answer and back up with invoices and paper work and instantly they agreed to settle the claim. Excellent service.

Paul, Glade it was nothing more serious! Always nice to get new covers, and even better when paid for by someone else!! :)
 
I have nothing but praise for GJW with regards to service and dealing with claims. On a previous boat several years ago they treated me admirably and dealt swiftly and fairly with a claim I made. Other companies, I'm sure, would have tried to wriggle out of accepting the claim, or negotiated a reduced settlement. I am now with them again with my new boat and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else in the future. This is what insurance should be about.

This good behaviour is long-standing. My father made a claim for some storm damage back in about 1988 when our boat was bashed by another one whose moorings let go and we couldn't trace the owner. GJW paid in full then, no quibbles, 10/10 behaviour

Only comment I'd add is that I've had similarly top behaviour from Pantaenius and there was a thread about that a couple of weeks ago. So I got both GJW and Pants to quote for my new boat about a year ago, for identical cover, and GJW were £15k premium whereas Pants were £10k, which is a helluva difference, so I'm with Pants.
 
I can also confirm I had excellent service when my covers were wrecked by the 1998 storms - GJW took all the details, I got the quote for the new covers - we agreed to knock 1/3rd off the new covers for "betterment" as the old cover was rubbish and I was having the new one custom made, stainless poles not aluminium and so on and they paid next day.

I was over the moon.
 
Glad to hear all this. I switched to GJW last year, having been very disappointed by Haven Knox-Johnstone. Haven't had to make a claim (and hope I don't have to any time soon) but I've been impressed by the way they have handled things generally.
