Ten years ago the chain on my swinging mooring got wrapped around the sinker then a gale came through. My poor boat must have spent several hours trying to lift the sinker off the seabed due to the short length of chain that was still free until the bow disintegrated and my nearly new Z Spars mast came crashing down. When I phoned GJW I said it was still too rough to get out to my boat and was told not to try as they could replace the boat but not me. Later, I motored over to the nearest boatyard (they accepted a single quote) where £9K later everything was repaired and directly paid for by GJW. They let me keep any parts of the mast and boom that I could salvage and I sold the single line furling boom on here for £200 - it only had a slight groove cut partly through it by the rigging. My premium went up next year by about £100 which is fair enough. It will take them 90 years to recoup the repair bill.
