We run our boat in a bit of an odd way in that we cruise during the winter and so keep it in the water. We pull it out during the summer for a couple of weeks and sort out all the necessary bits. Our thinking is that during the summer it's dryer and so any finishes cure better and if hulls do need to dry out once a year when better than the summer !
I popped down to Endeavour Quay this afternoon (they seem a friendly bunch) to see how things are getting on and have a bit of a fiddle with the hull sides whilst it's out of the water. I have had shipshape (who clean the boat during the year) give it a polish and it's looking rather good. Last time I had a boat polished I was rather disappointed (I won't say who did it) and this time I nearly hired a "detailer" to come and work on it. Thankfully (financially) he never came back to me so I probably saved a few quid.
As you can see from the photos we had the shafts and props polished as well - after the recent posts of pitted props and lost props I had photographic OCD and took pictures of them both from all angles !
Stern gear is still in nice shape, trim tabs are like new still (I think they might be a composite material rather than just plain aluminium ?) and all the under water bits look fine. New anodes everywhere including bow thruster. I'll need to get some action shots when we're out in her during August.
Trying to sort out new cushions in that synthetic "fabric" which seems to be all the rage rather than vinyl these days. I wasn't sure how it would wear when I first saw it used but it seems to be holding up well so we'll give it a bash. Probably a set of covers as well either now or at the end of the season.
But pleased with the job so far, there are good marine support people out there after all. We'll be getting the engines serviced when she goes back in the water. Maybe it'll all go downhill then
Anyway, keep smiling
