... that most of us here enjoy the pleasures of one of the finest waterways our money can give us access to.

I have just been to Norwich for the weekend visiting family and had the misfortune to find myself - thankfully very briefly - in Wroxham on the Broads yesterday.

Everything seems to be owned by someone called Roy and the place had all the hallmarks of a Kiss-me-Quick seaside resort in the worst possible taste .......

:D:D:D

Yep, we rented a boat for a weekend from up there once and I was staggered to see Roy's Of Wroxam's Supermarket, Roy's Of Wroxam's butchers, Roy's Of Wroxam's shoe shop, Roy's Of Wroxam's fish & chip emporium, Roy's Of Wroxam's launderama, er, well, you get the idea.....

It was very strange...

We bought Jedi from NYA Horning and on the weekend we went up to take possession it chucked it down. Instead of the planned shakedown cruise on the Northern Broads we ended up in Wroxham, a lot. Mentioning "not Roy's Chandlery then?" in the Wroxham chandlery was not seen as funny! We keep plastic shopping bags for rubbish bags and might, by now, have run out of Roys ones:-)

For those of a literary bent Roys is specifically named as the village shop in Horning in the Broads novels of Arthur Ransome.
