Girrrrls and boats?

I have a girrrrl that has been a friend and even known my previous girlfriend and is still a freind shes also been my dentist for the last x years!

What im wondering is do girls not like monohull sailing boats?????When she comes down to the boat she stays planted firmly on the dock!!But when she gave me a lift to a mobo i was winteriseing she came aboard,and now shes been on board a cat i was staying on!

Ive asked her but she just wont comment?Do girrrls not like monohulls becouse of the angle they sail at?

Her assistent told me i should stop being so distent but im a bit affraid, if she dosent like sailing???And last year when i had the boat by her house on the canal she said i should sell it and stay in a walm comfortable flat???Then it could be a problem?? Shes never sent me a bill ever!!Perhaps i should become a monk????

I havent got any money!!

Weve been good friends for years i help her move things as friends do and we used to meet when she was on holiday in Elba i would be her "man" Just chat and eat with her (i had to pay my bill!) just company.

Now it seems to have changed since im alone.

I dont want to fall out in a while over boats and i dont want to stay planted, she works 12 hour days and has two days off one for shopping and one to relax so shes content.She calls me when im there if she needs help or to go with her to a dinner thing and we would meet when shes on holiday.

She just dosent seem to like my boat though??? I just cant see why?


I did think of a junk rig /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif in fact id really like to try ill really have to look into it to try /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
 
Junk Rig that would Crown it, Brace your self get to the Root of the Canal problem, she only wants you for your Scran-bag O bits n pieces. build Bridges form an Amalgam of the best parts in the relationship. she earns cash you spend it, anyhow atleast you get to move her drawers now and again cant be all that bad can it
 
it's tuther way about with us. Problem with saily boats, narrow boats and barges. There all like coffins. Cant actually sit anywere and see out. So it's all a bit morbid.

Where as with mobo, sat up high with big windows and feel part of it, rather than being a recluse and skunking below some where, unable to wave at passers by. Eventually every one thinks your the funny one and gives up.

Buy a nice airy mobo. Not a tunnel. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I definately like mono hull sailing, and motor boats and hope to do some sailing on a Cat in a couple of weeks, ( Ilove it all), but, if she hasn't been 'out ' sailing with you on a monu how can you pose such a question?, maybe it is a matter of 'accoadation space' .. and not heeling,(if you heel too much, are you really =ss ailmg effeciently anyway?)
A folk boat is extremely beautiful and I yearn for one my self, but, alas it is not suitable to the sort of sailing I want to do re space e.tc. so have bought a different type of 'mono huill'
You have a beautiful folkboat , but , if she suffers from claustrophobia (the boat not your 'friend' /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) it may be a problem. Introduce her to a different 'mono hull and see what happens .
Also, is she your dentist, a friend, and or a Casual type of friend (If you now what i mean /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif) or all of the above if all of the above then that sounds like a good combination, but If she doesnt like your life style and wants you to change it ? well thats a differnt box of frogs all together.
 
Dont sell your boat just to please a woman! If she dont like your lifestyle choice move on, there are lots of gurls who like folkboats. Seems like she just wants you for her own convenience.

Trouville, she won't change, swmbo says if she ever comes down to the boat, it will be with a drill - and that's after 50+ years! I should have called it The Other Woman and I did decide to come out of the Andrew for her at the end of my Nat Service!
 
1. He is not talking about the folkboat, that one is up here i Stockholm, on the dry, under a long since blown away winter tarp.
2. My guess is the woman has problems not because it's a monohull. The difference is that this one is HIS boat wheter the other two were someone else's boats...
 
If she fancied you and didn't mind boats, she'd have invited herself on board by now. The sad truth is she won't go anywhere near a boat owned by you because she doesn't want to raise any false hopes that one day she might change.
 
Maybe you should should step back and take a 'dispassionate' look at your boat. Maybe it is not what you perceive it to be. Sometimes you have a very fixed idea in your head and others don't see it like you do. The clue is in the fact that she will not comment on why she will not come aboard ... Ask a friend for an honest dispassionate opinion, and listen !
But either way I would say that you have a good relationship with this lady and I would suggest that you don't spoil it by being petulant about your pride and joy !
 
We went to visit a friend who has a 14m mono hull, there she said mine looks hard to get aboard as there dosent seem to be a lot of space!! She said she would be in the way if we went sailing and so on--- well todays christmas and were all relaxed and happy.

In fact i would rather we stayed just very good friends, she is good to be with and i like her a lot indeed!I said to heck with it lets be together as she would like, but honestly im just not at "home" long enough (weve been talking)and the other girls said she was better to have me as a friend rather than a "livewith"?? oh well!

Well that might be the best and i cant really afford a place for a cat even if i could find one!!

Thankfully its christmas and she sees that as well! Imagin an angry dentist!!!!

We wouldent start a family and were not a young couple???umm So being freinds dose seem the best idea especially for her as girrrls like their man to be about i think she works such long hours becouse there hasent been one? Complicated!

At least its been discused?I dident know what i should do yesterday and i was very tempted to stay with her but she dosent really want to go "sailing" perhaps a day out on the mobo

Thanks for the posts it really made me think hard and look cooly (only had one glass of champage and one small glass of red wine!!!!today) have a great rest of this christmas day and happy days between and the new year!
 
I am a girl, and I love sailing, but remember and think about how cramped, cold and wet a folkboat can be, (mines a Contessa26) and compare it to how dry comfortable and fun some boats can be, a person has to be passionate about sailing to enjoy being cold and wet feeling like you are taking a spin in a washing machine. Dont try to push her, start with inviting her on nice weather days, for just a few hours at a time.
Enjoy her company, and enjoy the differences between the two of you, you dont need to live in each others pockets to be a couple, and being appart makes getting back together when you meet up, so much nicer,
Just always remember that if either of you changes too much, you stop being the people that were initially attracted to each other, so just blend together a little, and enjoy!

What Chrisse said is exactly whats been said this morning!!

She reminded me that last winter when i had the boat on the canal by her house that i looked like a scarcrow with crumpled cloths and that she had to dry my sleeping bag blankets and sheets so often! (womans memory)

She even found a photo of me when i left this spring looking clean well fed and well presseed!!And said "look at you now"ummmm

Im really glad i posted or i would never have got us asked aboard my freinds boat and we wouldent have had other girrrls that go sailing, for her to talk to(im still not compleatly convinced that girrrls talking to girrls about me was my best idea??)

We have gone a step forward!We will remain as we are! (But can i be trusted if i end up in Poland this summer??Of course i can!)

Crikey Lakey, seems a bit hard, of course it's possible but a friendship of this length, I doubt it.

Generally, girls who like boats, like boats. But a 60' Sunseeker is more of a bitch magnet than a folkboat, I'm afraid. Then again, if you like folkboats you're less likely to be into 'babes'.

I've had both saily and mobo's over the years. My wife found sailing, either frightening or boring but nowdays can't wait to get down to our Mobo at weekends.

Why not invite your friend down to LIBS and watch her reactions to all the different types of boats. If you can't get her mouth watering there, you've no chance!

She prefers mobos! We have an old Bertram 28 with leaky forward windows!When we arrived at the islands she asked me if the leaks made me feel closer to my sailing boat!!

My sons not keen on me useing it as i ran the last one, a newer Bertram 26, accross some shallows and modified the the shafts and wheels!!(very expensive!!)In a sailboat that would never have happend?

I think well stick to me arriveing by boat and meeting to go for a coffee and a walk.
