Hi Girls,

I'll be in Germany Tuesday Wed Thursday this week so probably best to communitcate via PM's or email, or this thread.

Our second annual girlie weekend is nearly here.... So far the count is:

Mrs Vreny
Mrs Morgana
Mrs Full Circle
Mrs T25
Mrs Solene
East Coast Bernie
Phanakapan
Suziwoozi ????
Sweetpea?????
Mrs Summer Solstice?????
Bernies Friend?????

If you are reading this and have ???? after your name could you let us know if you are coming:-)

Some of us aren't working Friday afternoon (or Friday at all) and are planning to go down to Burnham in the afternoon to do a bit of boat familiarisation and maybe go for a little sail, will then probably bring FC alongside Rice and Coles Pontoon. If you could all let me know what time you think you will arrive I'll try to make sure we have a table booked somewhere for dinner at an appropriate time.

Having spoken to quite a few of you we thought we'd eat out in the evenings and then we just have to cater for breakfast and lunch. Might be easier if I just go shopping on Friday afternoon and we splt the cost? Let me know if you have any special requirements.

Lastly but for me most important... What do you all want to get out of the weekend? Feel free to PM me if you want.... but it would be nice to know if you want to learn anything in particular. This is probably more important this year than last as 2 different boats will mean different opportunities. Ideas I had for what we would do, how we would decide who goes on what boat are:

Naviagion
Spinnaker
Man Overboard
Picking up Moorings
Coming alongside pontoon
Gybing
Braving Vreny's exposed foredeck /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Anchoring
Tiller vs Wheel steering
Reefing
Knots

Hope to hear from you all soon

Regret to inform that unfortunately , both T25 & MrsT25 will have to withdraw from this meeting , apologies for the late notice and hope everyone enjoys themselves

Regret, as T25, that Centaurpipedream will not now be available for this weekend, however may be Southwold bound weekend of 30/31st if anyone is headed that way. Feeling miffed about changed plans and late withdrawal, but have fun all.

I'm still coming...

I might not be able to turn up until about 2030-2100 on the Friday; but I'm negotiating hard with (bribing) my kids to see if I can get away earlier- in which case it will be more like 1930- depending on the M25 traffic of course.

Happy with any of the suggestions of 'what to do'.. but I wouldn't mind having a go at the spinnaker 'cos I've only ever done it on courses and haven't got round to having a go on my own boat yet; also some rufty tufty foredeck work sounds fun!

See you soon

Philippa

I now think there are 6 of us you,,me, ann, Debs, bernie,Phillipa so we may not need both boats. Who is coming down to Burnham, and what times are we looking at? I'm off work all day friday. let me know whats happening. Lynn

Was thinking the same, 6 sailors = 1 boat, 7 = 2

Not sure about times, think it might be you, me, Bernie and Anne in the afternoon. Pity about there being only 6, I was looking at the light airs on Sat and thinking possibly putting Vreny's kit up but we can't fit 6 on Vreny:-(

Never mind, sure we'll have a great time anyway.

Hi Everyone

Would anybody be passing near Manningtree or Ipswich train station on Friday afternoon/evening?

I plan to get a train from Southend. Have just realised that it’s a 10 mile walk to Shotley…

(Vreny – Mrs Summer Solstice will be joining you in Burnham on Saturday evening. Do you have a time & venue for dinner?)

Re my time of arrival- I no longer have to act as a taxi driver for my son Friday afternoon; I'm now working on my boss (who is also my boyfreind!) so I can take some of Friday off.. anyway this means that I will certainly be able to arrive much earlier, perhaps even in time for an afternoon sail. If you can give me a rough idea of your proposed timetable for Friday I will work around it.

If you get a train to HarwichTown then a short walk to halfpenny pier will get you to the foot ferry across to Shotley Marina. My wife did this a couple of weeks ago and it worked fine. But book.

The last pm ferries is 1650 and you need to book 07919911440

Or get some kind Shotley forumite to motor across and pick you up.

Any call on what time people can get to Burnham Friday pm? Assuming somebody gives Pat a lift to Shotley, I can be at Burnham for 2pm, but will still have to go shopping, though we could go for a sail, then shop depending on what time others get ther.

What time Michael?

We are going from Southend/Noak Bridge/Canewdon in the early afternoon by Land Rover.
We can come back and pick you up as we will be in Shotley late afternoon. Iwill PM you my phone number
