Gib\'Sea 242

We're going to look at one this weekend and we're pretty serious. I've done a fair few miles on a 402 of similiar vintage, but does anyone have any experience of the 242 and ideas where I should pay special attention?

If your looking at the lift keel outboard version, you might want to compare to the Hunter Delta, not quite as roomy but overall very similar. I am biased, but I thought the 242 liftkeel version looked very sensible with a stought if ugly grounding plate.

Re: Gib\'Sea 242

Bought a 242 two seasons ago. Lift keel version about 1989 vintage. I really like the boat and have not found any real horrors. My gel coat is a bit dull but polyglow worked wonders on the hull. I particularly like the fact that it maintains stability when the keel is up as the balast is in a grounding shoe moulded into the bottom of the hull. Done quite a few jobs over the last two winters including overhauling the keel mechanism which is very simple. If you PM me with an email address I will send you pics of jobs done.

Cheers

Chris
