My Gibb 2 speed auto ratchet 16RA spinnaker winch lifts off the secure base (in the vertical axis) even with the cap and retaining circclip in place.

It seems to functions fine otherwise (!) and when stripping down I can’t see an obvious reason but expect some part is worn down/out. I couldn’t work out which part of the internal workings secures the whole drum down? It doesn’t appear to be that ring and clip visible externally on the top of the drum. Thank you.

Just to clarify that the spindle „column“ is lifting off the base with the drum. Leaving the bearings and gears etc. on the base. So it’s the part securing the spindle down which appears to be the culprit but I couldn’t work out which part that is. Any advice or diagrams gratefully received 🙏
