Any real problems doing this? anyone done it?
Good boatyard? or not? anyone used them? for storage or repair work?

I aim to be bringing my longbow up there around end of october to work on her over the winter, as its the closest yard to our house. How shallowis the creek? she draws 1.5m.
thanks

As a visiting YC,

We rely on the excellent chartlets and find plenty of water and time for the trip up the creek. Tending to get to the Leigh Buoy area in plentŷ of time, then riding the tide up and arriving before HW easily.

Cheers

I did my Jag 24 up there. Decent people, good security and an excellent chandlers right on tap for pretty much everything you need.

Also I found them reasonable for things like dropping the mast.

There is a Cafe on site too which is (was) ok.

Good rail access.

The bogs could do with a tidying up but other than that all you need really.

The channel from the Ray is fine and as Keith has said, the chartlet produced by the club is great. But be aware that you need to be well over towards the starboard bouys as you enter the Ray channel at the Leigh Bouy at anywhere near low water. The channel has moved slightly and it regularly catches people out. The channel also curves slightly so following a route from bouy to bouy can also catch you out. Keep one eye on your depth sounder until you reach the first of the fishing boat moorings and you should be fine.

Anywhere in the ray its muddier the further up you go, BYC also has a club buoy near the Nelson 31 Tosca. If its lumpy you can move up to the hole just past where Smallgains creek branches off.
