Planning on picking up my Dad's boat from Brest to bring it back to the UK on the August Bank Holiday (24th), and have been looking at ways of getting there.
I think it's possible to get the Eurostar after work on friday and get to Brest that night, but Rail Europe has several options for Brest. Anyone know which one is the right staion for the marina?

Also I've tried to find a flight, but no luck. I'm assuming other people may have done this route before, how have people got to Brest?

Edit - changed link

Link doesn't work but I believe that some cut-price airline had planned to start a service between Brest and Eastleigh last year. Don't know if it ever "got off the ground"!

I did see that, and it is stonkingly cheap, but could only get there late afternoon on Saturday, not leaving much leeway if the weather's a bit dodgy as I've got no holiday to spare and have to do it over the bank holiday.

We used Eurostar/TGV via Paris. The station is right in the centre of Brest (can't remember the name) and is a 20 minute taxi ride to the marina..

I flew from Southampton to Brest with Flybe, then a taxi to Moulin Blanc, because the bus takes you to the centre of Brest and then you need to get another one out to the marina.

I flew back from Brest to Soton with Flybe after a delivery. Some thieving toerag lifted my sailing knife, multitool, handbearing compass etc from my bag once it was checked in.

Took ages (and a promise to take them to small claims court) but eventually Flybe paid up.

So Brest wasn't best for me...

Ferry from Roscoff is only an hour or so by road from Brest.

Airport at Brest is 20 minutes by taxi.

Left the boat in Brest 2005 and visited several times. Enjoyed the flight (Flybe) from Exeter best but easiest was by car/Roscoff

The TGV runs from Paris to Brest and can be boarded from stations near St Malo and Roscoff (Rennes and Morlaix) if you prefer to take a ferry X Channel. There are also normal trains running more local services on this line. Brest railway station is in the centre of town, the marina is about 3 miles to the East of the station.

Sailing is not like that, bad weather can easily disrupt your plans.
