Getting spliced - book recommendation please.

It\'s all in the finish

1) After two tucks, cut away half the strand. Two more tucks, cut away half again. You end up with a nice tapered splice that can go back and forth through a block.

2) Once the splice is finished, rub it fervently between your hands. For the rougher stuff, put it on the ground and roll it with your foot. It removes the lumps, you see.

Agreed

The Germans build very fine cars. Except for my old VW Passat, which went through the factory during a bratwurst break. I've forgotten half the things that went wrong with it, but one nasty trick remains in my memory - the sun roof jammed open, and then it started raining.

But the German battle-cruisers all ended up as artificial reefs, I think. At least they did in those b&w movies starring Jack Hawkins and Trevor Howard.

PS the tide doesn't just go up and down, and sideways. It also goes backwards and forwards. I believe it is all to do with bowel movements by undersea monsters.

I found the best way was to copy an eye splice by marking each strand so you can see what strand goes under and over the other strands, if that maks sence!, once I figured that out the all the other splices seemed easy. I also refered to 'Ther Splicing Handbook' by Barbara Merry,

The secret is that once you have done the splice, put it under your foot and role it back and forth.
