Getting salt stains off Gel coat ?

Hi, although I have asked Kawasaki how to get the salt stains off my Jeanneau Cap Camarats only 2 year old blue hull, I think a brilo pad and blow torch is not the way to go ! Any ideas and suggestions would be well received....

'Kwackers' the product is quite a good gear imho
When rubbed it can do wonders to mind and body.
The 'salt' on the Op's vessel however might be another substance

But in the enviroment said vessel sits
Baked by the Greecian heat therein I think (from my last viewing) there could be a tad more to think about

A Brillo pad and torch of The Collosus may hactually be the way forward.
Or a tad of 'dubbing' of a Remnant of a Greecian urn's last deposists.

My knowledge of removing Salt from the wounds
Of a battered nautical floater is restricted to my experiences of purveying Pizzas and fish, n chips to the Populous.
Not the Poleponese or the the relatively stiff Pompanions!

By way of not boring the Forum of this old salty thread
I have sent some guidlines to said Englishman with a French encrusted vessel by way of an Electronic Mail.

The contents of which may enlighten the OP, said Ex Pat, which will open the method of removing salt from the wounds.

Not sure it's anything to do with salt. It's the blue or any other coloured hull, other than white, that's the problem. They all go dull. The pigments change the properties of the plastic.

Anyway, what you doing asking Kwackers about cleanliness. It's a bit like asking Attila The Hun About the Salvation Army.

They may well have done so.

All I can tell you after 20 odd years of experience in plastics, is by adding .0.05% of colour, you can change the whole properties of the plastic.

They showed me around their yards at Poole, and with boats of variable age, there was a clear difference in pre and post last 5 years. Not clear what happens after 5 years though.

Well I'm not sure I'd judge this by what sunseeker tell you. They have a bit of a vested interest. I can show you a 2008 s/seeker in black that has gone burnt matt black in blotches as big as your fridge door, all over, like someone has held a flame thrower to it.

No-one can make sunproof black gelcoat. Sunseeker make fantastic boats, in white. If you want silver or something then fine but be prepared to respray every few years depending on your climate. Just don't have black gelcoat and expect it to last like white (in sunny climes)

Sunseeker have not got the Gel cote issue sorted. I have just been agreeing lifting dates to have the whole of the stern and sun facing surfaces 2 pack painted as there seems to be no cure for the Gel discoloration.

However if it is salt your talking about a product called Sumascale diluted and washed over the hull will remove all salt and cal build up. we use this when the boats are lifted prior to power washing the hull mop it on soft brush and rinse it off.

well you cant realy see the Sumascale but its the 5ltr container next to my nice blue bucket.
