I need to take our boat round to Northney to get the Marine Electriciants to tell me that the electronics are knackered ...
So, the question is: how many hours either side of a 4m tide can I get in/out? We draw 6' and will be coming round from within the harbour. I understand that there is a 1m dredged channel so theoretically it should be 24hr access with lows of >1m next week...

Thanks in advance!!

We draw 1.5m and may touch at low water springs. Last time we went in there seemed to be a couple of lumps of soft mud in the channel. Just put on some revs and plough your way through.

Ta! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif if we aim to go a couple of hours before or after low then we'll get in then! Good, cos its a long way down our slip with a tender!

I draw 1.95m and am berthed an Northney. Usually it is about 1hr either side of low tide to get through on most most tides. The shallow bit is just before the last red pot outside the entrance - about 30yds. Once round that pot keep to the centre of the channel into northney as it is very narrow. Once in no problems, it is dredged a further 1/2 m. Watch out that you do not drift with the tide too...

Thanks - I know most of the water - but only from an RS400s point of view, I'd already looked up the website but it doesn't tell you what the depth is like once you've left Emsworth Channel - only that their entrance is dredged to 1m ... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I thought we'd probably be ok, but know that several forumulites live there so could be able to offer knowledge of any particular obstructions ... thanks anyway! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

All the aerial photographs on multimap are provided by getmapping (millenium project) and the bulk of the UK was photographed between 99 and 01, so will more than likely date from that time. Not sure there is any way to actually precisely date any of their aerial photos unless you subscribe to one of their professional packages. They have done some further updates for their higher resolution images of certain specific areas and cities, but this area is not one of them as far as I understand

Thanks for all the replies - still waiting for the call from the guy there so took the boat to Chichester instead - in last night, checked today, out tonight, quote in the post.
And the guy operating the locks was very nice to us too - let the water in very slowly!!

I guess the Northney guys are just far to busy and don't want my business ...
