You were lucky:)
Friend of mine was going to buy one of those until he had a trip on one,boy they can be noisy!you are basically sat on top of 2 1960's Bedford diesels, and he is hard of hearing!

Plenty of boats to choose from, this is the fun bit looking
and don't forget it's a buyers market out there, your the one holding the folding:)

Have to admit it is enjoyable looking over a good variety of boats. It's just the traveling that gets me down. Everywhere is a long journey from North Wales :ambivalence:

Don't forget you can offer what you value a boat at. Not the inflated price some owners have in mind based on prices before the recession. I have watched some splendid bargains go through this past year two of which shocked me the prices paid were so low.

On that subject find somebody that has two boats....A very presentable and extremely well maintained Freeman belonging to a club member recently went for £7K despite it being up for sale for just over twice that.
He bought himself a bargain and just wanted to out the old boat.
Do not be afraid of upsetting/offending the seller or broker.Always go in super low and watch the look of horror, usually then follow up with your genuine mere insulting silly low offer so any fancy ideas of what they will get will vanish pronto.
Might have most sellers fuming but for cash sales in this price band offer around 50% of asking and work up from there.
They might tell you to go forth and multiply but sooner or later you will get a taker.
Alls fair in lurve and boat buying.:)

All makes good sense, especially if it is a buyers market. I'll also be going in as a cash buyer, so no loans to have agreed.

Just to add.... Thanks to everyone for their advice (good thing the thread keeps it all on the database, as I'd never remember it :D )

The Seawings looks very nice, but a bit on the small side. We went to Newark last Sunday to look at the Freeman and it needs quite a bit more than a tidy up! Really quite shabby, needing hull repaint and there is some rot in the timber superstructure. The website photos make it look much better than reality.

Do like the Senior that you posted about earlier at Burton Waters :D

I think I'll be taking a look at Sheron... pricey for a Project 31, but looks pretty clean.

The Nauticus isn't really my thing, nothing against them.... just personal taste.

Ahh... Freeman 22. I used to have a Mk1 many years ago and they are a great little cruiser, but too small. Long haired manager needs to have a shower fitted as standard, or at least for the heads to be big enough to convert.

RLM Entice on Apollo duck in Ripon.
If you want aft cockpit they have the largest compared with the ones you have been looking at due to the fact they are 1Ft wider.it makes a difference, the long haired manager will love the huge aft cockpit lounger!

Know of a nice Princess 32 coming to the market in the next couple of weeks. Not for sale yet but I can pass your details into the owner if you are interested.

Currently moored at Boston.

Would it be called Eloise, based at Derby Motor Boat Club? I saw it yesterday and it is beautiful. It has moved to the top of the list!

So... I went for the trial on the Princess 32 (Eloise) and she ran beautifully. Started first turn of the key, after plenty of pre-heat (apparently this is common on older VP diesels) and everything was tickety-boo! She is in fabulous condition, was only out of the water last month for anti-fouling and hull polish. The existing owner was preparing her for the main summer cruise and saw a Sealine that he really liked and bought it! Hence, the reason for the sale. He had even filled the diesel tank, which I think is about 500 litres.

So we struck a deal and as of next weekend, I shall be its new owner! I am looking to moor her on the Trent and I look forward to seeing you fellow boaters in the area. Might look for some help when I first make a tidal cruise.

Thanks again for all your input and advice (I know... should have been shafts, but the budget wouldn't stretch that far) and this boat is in fabulous condition. I've attached a couple of pics from when she was out of the water last month. I'll post more in the future and from forthcoming cruise.
