Getting a Halcyon 27 to Porto

I just bought a Halcyon 27 in Kent England, I want to move it to Porto in Portugal. What would be the most economical way. I don't really have the time or experience to sail it here myself. Its in decent shape, just had the survey backI would cost about 3500pounds to truck it here, hoping there is a cheaper way.
Any suggestions?

you either truck it or hire a delivery skipper to sail it there for you ... depends on how quickly you want it there ...

Helllo and welcome to the Halcyon 27 owners, you can join the owners association , they have all the tech details for the yachts, and a lot of help. It is also nice to know were the boats are.
Have you concidered moving via the French canel system ?. Our boat has done two Trans-Atlantics and crossed Biscay so they are a sea worthy boat, will smeone sail it for you ?

How would I find a delivery skipper. Will they sail such a small boat so far? Could truck to Falmouth? It doesn't matter how long it takes, sometime in the next few months would be nice. I've heard its much cheaper to truck it from France to Portugal
I have been sniffing about the offshore owners association for a while, I will certainly join now. I live in Porto, Portugal, there are virtually no older boats for sale here. There was one Invicta 26 in Lisbon but it was rotton as a pear.

I live and work in Porto and can't get any time off work until after the new year, that might be the way to go.

Why not bite the bullet secure her in Kent till the spring, save up the hols and have an adventure! .... what an adventure you could have! Spend the meantime daydreaming..... i mean planning!

I go with Smeaks. Only take about a week to get her there. Don't bother before spring as a new boat and Biscay in winter is not the greatest combination. It'll cost you very little to take her. You need two other friends, pay for their transport, food and beer, and just do it in one hit. Don't stop too much because ports cost skippers dear.
You'll have a ball.

I'd seriously think about overland on a transporter. A friend of mine is having his boat moved to S.Biscay next week from Wales. Don't know the exact cost, but if you can leave the time frame open, it can be very reasonable. If the truck is going down to Portugal to pick up a boat anyway, you can strike a very good deal. Ask for some recommended hauliers in Kent and have a word with them.

PS - for what it's worth, I would never consider such a passage by sea in an old boat that I'd just bought, until I knew her inside-out and all the systems had been well tested in coastal waters...but I know people do it anyway.
