Does anybody use a halliard led to a windlass?

Bouncing is more fun.

Sort of. Spinnaker halliard on secondary winch - but needs second person.

Not necessariily. I clip the halyard to the lifeline by the shrouds, and then cleat it off. I then attach it to the ring on the front of the dinghy, and then reach for the dinghy's handles. Pushing the dinghy forward lifts the bow.

Yes, lead through a block on a line through another block attached to the end of the pole. Easy to lift a tinker tramp with outboard every night.
