I'm having an interesting discussion with a German about a rudder. Since he has little english & we have little german its a struggle. A sticking point has arisen over the meaning of rudder bearing in German-anyone able to help?
 
I'd have thought Ruderlager - at least that seemed to work when I was talking about aircraft rudder bearings in Germany. Mind, there was usually a lot of vigorous pointing at the guily item as well so they may have just ignored what the the idiot Brit was sayng.
 
I'm getting a quote to have a new rudder manufactured in Germany. My wife who has some German can get the sales team to understand what we want as regards the rudder but we seem to be struggling with the concept of bearings-my wifes tried the word Zusammenhanger after much looking in her dictionary which is just provoking puzzeled responses......

According to my (old) English-German technical dictionary, a rudder pintle is "Fingerling" (n)
Perhaps combining that with bearing, which is "Lager" (n) might help.

"Ruder" as well as "steuer" is given as rudder
