German gas connections

I have recently undertaken the task of replacing the flexible hose that runs to the oven on my newly aquired Dehler 34 (built 1988). Having removed both ends of the existing hose and salvaged the locking nuts, I find that the old olives are non-standard compared to the UK. I have spoken to the local chandler, who informed me that the connection is a German GNK(?) type.

Has anyone else encountered and overcome this challenge, and if so how?

BTW - the piping is 5/16" if that helps.

Not come across this problem but they may be some sort of metric fittings as sold in plumbing shops.
You say that the pipe is 5/16 why not get some 5/16 olives and nuts and replace them?
If the whole lot is metric then use metric fittings.
If imperial then use these from england.
If still different then change the whole lot to metric or imperial.

Hi,

I also have a Dehler 34 and had to replace the gas flexible pipe from the bottle to the fixed pipe. Here I also had difficulties finding the right fitting. I ended up throwing both fittings away (involved sawing through one of the ring nuts) and attching the flexible pipe with hoseclamps. I do not recall without checking how the flexible pipe is attached to the cooker.

If you are interested to keep in touch and share info on the Dehler 34 please send me an email to Thorsten_Hoeffken@London.com. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

If there's a branch of "hyphose" or another flexible pipe/fittings specialist near you, definitely take the fittings in & ask.

Thank you for the advice so far. I called the Calor Gas Center in Southampton today and they suggested that normal 5/16" copper olives will work with the existing fittings. I intend to follow this suggestion and see how it goes, otherwise I am left with completely replacing all of the terminal the fittings.
