To quote Dubbya today: "we have a call from beyond the stars"

...or something like that.

I always thought he was from another planet. D'you think we could persuade him to jump on a space ship and follow the call?

According to the BBC he said "We have a calling from beyond the stars to stand for freedom, and America will always be faithful to that cause".

Now, you and I may think that is complete tosh, if not more than marginally deranged. Bush himself, despite appearances, probably thinks that it's shite. But he's a highly manipulative person and it seems to go down well with about half the folks over there. I do not understand why.

Well, a lot of conspiracy theorists and UFOlogists maintain that the USA was contacted in the 1950s by UFO people, so you never know ... he might have been quite literal when he said that they have been contacted from "beyond the stars". On the other hand, he might have just been talking his usual nonsense.

He was obviously asleep in the history lesson when they were taught about how the pilgrims' dream was to found a country who's government was not religously motivated /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

No, aparently he has a calling from god, hell yeeeah! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't think he'll even understand most of it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Perhaps a bit more cunning than we give him credit for

Most murderers trying the loony defence claim to have heard voices telling them to do it.

Maybe he's getting his defence in place as some kind of insurance
