Family crew now more interested in new grandchildren, wife only wants to sail if weather is her idea of perfect (flat calm. no wind, sunshine), dreams of long voyages receding into reality - lovely big boat for sale.
But on the bright side I am looking for a potential replacement boat to match revised realistic sailing aspirations. i.e. a nice daysailer with room for 6 or more people, small cabin with wc and somewhere to make a brew, good sailing performance but not a racing boat. Able to take a bit of sea and do the occasional coastal passage, shallow draught (lifting keel ?), inboard engine, easily sailed single handed, probably between 20 and 30 ft. Any suggestions ??

Stylish, pretty and (lets get down with the kids here) cool. Nothing quite sails like a Folkboat and it will take you to Australia if required. Neither will be suitable for six adults but maybe 3 and 3 tame kids would be possible. The Marieholm probably has a cockpit as long as some 32 footers.

Oh aye, neither suitable for the shallows but there we go.

There is an enormous number of boats that will fit that wide brief. Does "gentleman" imply traditional looking? then www.tofinou.com have a range. If modern then both Jeanneau and Beneteau have boats that suit the basic spec.

As ever budget may determine/limit choice. Just do some searching on line using the search engines in Yachtworld and Yachtmarket for ideas.

Americans do this sort of thing pretty well. Lots of houses with a dock at the end of the garden. J100, Aileron Express, Morris M series (ouch! price).

Would second Saffier but then I am biased because I imported a SC8 last year, she would fit 6 in cockpit.

I also liked the look of the Tofinou but the varnished wood put me off plus it wasn't as useful down below.
