Mike, even I've got a Ferret card (who hasn't) and I'll be pleased to buy you your first lunch in LMG..... see you soon!

Thanks MYAG. That'll be the lobster and Dom Perignon for me;)

no that thing is top left of the bay, NW corner, quite near the restaurants. I hooked it a few weeks before Bart did. The top right of the bay, NE corner, is free of debris!

Could somebody explain what we're talking about here and is it marked on any charts!:D

Here is a chart. Maybe someone can talk you on, so to speak.

Thanks mcanderson. So its that wreck next to the 12.5m sounding?

M, you can read the story and see some pics (both from myself and jfm) of the big anchors trap in this old thread.
In fact, I would swear that when we grabbed it with BA anchor, we were around the spot which I marked with a red circle in the following chart of the whole bay - which is the reason why it popped to my mind when I read jfm suggesting to anchor in the "top right hand corner".
But as I understand, he's now saying that it's on the opposite side of the bay...
...anyway, I don't think it's charted - and I wouldn't be surprised if it's moving around the bay a bit, every time it gets tangled! :ambivalence:

MapisM I am fairly sure that the obstackle was not in the red dot, but in the left hand corner as Jfm say's. The red dot however thats the spot where we stayed overnight on a few occasions

Well B, I can't pretend to know better than yourself and jfm, but if you look at the thread I previously linked, the pic of BA right before the one of the metal lump was taken where we anchored, and I also mentioned in the text that we overnighted in front of VF village.
But I said "in front", not "near" - in fact, it seems to me that we were pretty far from the W side of the bay (VF is in fact in the background, in that pic).

Anyway, we can as well wait for Deleted User to be there and explore the area.
If he will go anywhere near the wreck, pretty sure his oversized Rocna will grab it nicely...! :p

Thanks but I'd rather not:eek: So can I just clarify this. Did both Match and BA pick up this same lump of metal or are there several lumps of metal in Villefranche waiting to ruin my day. And is this lump(s) definitely in the NE part of the bay and is it associated with that wreck at 12.5m? Is the red dot definitely free of obstructions?

Well I can't say definitely, but in all the time we've anchored in this corner of VF I've never seen anyone with a fouled anchor. By coincidence, we are anchored in the middle of the red circle as I write.

Thanks NickH. Its red dot for me! Btw I was wondering what kind of shorepower sockets and water hose connections are provided on Mole Sud? I have had problems in the past in French marinas so I want to be prepared especially since we'll be arriving at the weekend/leaving Monday morning and I understand the chandleries will be closed. Anyone know?

Mike,

There are two reasonable chandlers at Beaulieu, once you find out what you need. Aquamarine and Ponel. I prefer Aquamarine. If you get your berth you should be able to get whatever you need from them.

They are pretty good in my experience. I am sure you will hear back. We have a very good friend in the Monaco Ports team if you are interested..

Shorepower socket is a Marechal DS6 http://marechal.com/en/industrial-plugs-socket-outlets-and-boxes/article/industrial-power-supply . I have one and don't need it again this year (or probably ever as our berth has a different 32A socket) so don't worry if you can't find one as we'll see you when you arrive on the 5th anyway.

Water is a Codital express fitting http://www.codital.com/fitting/coupling-for-compressed-air/express-fitting. It seems they're designed for compressed air, but they're widely used around here for water. I have a spare of these as well if you need one when you arrive.

Thanks NickH, much appreciated. Actually we plan to arrive in marina on Sun 4 Sept now as we have flight home on Monday

Is there anything you don't have a spare of? :D

PS if you're still local on the weekend, maybe we'll get the chance to catch up. Hoping to head SE maybe Mondayish...
