Hi all , went to this show by car today ( trying to shake off JFM who,s been stalking me all WE :):):)) from Cote D Azur ,about 3 hrs drive straight there , no traffic issues as the main road takes you there .Parking -- Italian city -go figure -how ever we found a central "labyrinth " plenty of room € 8 for the day and all the taxis in the city do a € 10 trip to the show .
Entry no q,s just € 15 .Bottle of water € 2 , tonic with ice + lime € 2.5 , sit down meal € 12 each .
It's less crowded more open and laid back than Cannes and Sibs .Exhibitors have more space and mostly inside the grande hall .
It had a very relaxed feel about it in 22 degree temps .
Sorry for the image format ,as I,am doing this from my I pad on the boat and rubbish at all things IT
In this post PB era :disgust:

Thanks L, some nice pics.
The "never heard of it" boat is a Gagliotta, a yard based in Naples.
Nice to see them showing a boat at Genoa, though they don't seem to have innovated a lot their traditional models.
Fwiw, I agree that the Arcadia Sherpa (which I've also seen in flesh) is amazing for outdoor living - and in other ways, too.
Portofino actually builds boats well above mid 30 feet, their larger model being a 57.
A friend of mine has a 37 which I know pretty well, and your comment "better built than the two French yards" made me smile...
...F yards can't hold a candle to their build quality would have been more appropriate! :)

Interesting 58 (63ft) sportboat is Baglietto MV19, one off fully custom build costing around 3 million EUROS http://www.poweryachtblog.com/2017/06/new-model-baglietto-mv19.html
They did a smaller MV13 a couple of year before, bought by FCA trouble kid Lapo Elkan http://www.poweryachtblog.com/2013/09/new-model-baglietto-mv13.html

Large open let down is the new Heron 56, they finished hull one just five days before Cannes. Will be build in Fiumicino in the X-Rizzardi Italcraft yard at the entrance of Fiumara.
I think they have a nice project (designers builders very good in the area) behind them, if they get lucky they should improve but center consoles cruisers market is getting over populated.

Rizzardi is nice, I always liked them cause they have substance and have build quality better to the norm. Arabito for hull, kids for exterior traditional building methods and are semi custom in all sizes.
Performance is also important to Rizzardi since he used to compete and won an Endurance Powerboat championship twice.

Transformer boat is the Evo 43 in the WA 2018 version.

The Admiral 24 should be a brokerage boat build in late nineties early new millenia. http://admiral-yachts.com/archivio_yachts/ Currently building this with only Flying Dragon (of the recent builds) being true representative of how the Admiral style eventually evolved.

The its all about Outdoor Living (escaped me) but its a new brand Superocean made from people who make the Scanner ribs (which I know off).

You should have also had a look at Austin Parker (port side to Cranchi Z35), nice people behind them not only designer who is Fulvio de Simoni (of Pershing fame) and are again a quality builder.

I follow what Mapis said re Gagliotta and Portofino, and add, I hope Gagliotta stays the same. We really have enough builders building plastic bottles atm ;)

Genoa is in rebuilding stage but a lot of Italian builders are restarting so I would give it two-three years and should be again bigger then Cannes.
That is unless those US-Koreans don't blow us all up before. Now that the economy is not so bad can we have a bit of fun.

Still sad to see the Italian big boys Ferretti Group (fully missing), and Azimut only partly participating with four boats.

Clients who visited on Friday said it was quite busy. When did you go?
But aparently the war between UCINA and Nautica Italiana is calming down so this should hopefully improve in the coming years.

Yeah, in hindsight I can see why my previous comment on Gagliotta not innovating a lot could sound negative, but actually I couldn't agree more with your last statement which I quoted! :encouragement:

Ref. Ferretti and Azimut, yup, I have it on good authority that it's just down to the fight with the MCY iron lady... Sad, innit? :ambivalence:

I went on Monday arrived noon - just walked in
Thx for filling the details in PYB ,lots of new to me boats and pleasantly surprised to see top end build on display from the Italians
The two big French were there in sail and motor , but you get what you pay for so to speak - not my cup of tea I,am afraid I could not live with that wood routed board with no edging they call " teak " -- which turns black after a few years --- what I see in the marina --- great value for money of course
Sunseeker looked so past it in style in this company also behind on fit n finish , I have to say it as i found it the fairlines looked better finished in the mix with the IT stuff -some of the IT stuff was exceptional
Sunseeker still using veneers for the " teak " bathing platform-- look closely at the pics others are solid
I was a bit disappointed that Ferretti group did not show up and figured there would be a back story ,no worries I got a huge dose last year @ Monaco + Cannes .

As said bit surprised MC 2 and seakeeper battling it out demo wise ( taking rides out ) on sports cruiser s ,Itama for the SC ? I saw them both go out to together in mill pond calm sea and literally create wakes for each other .Could not work out which boat MC 2 were using heavily sign written / decals in the 1 st pic post # 1 centre R in red for ground ?
Some more images ---

Nice Austin Parker picture in the new lot. The 54 is an awesome boat.

And the Azimut S7 does look special and different from the back. Got to hand it to Azimut they know how to change the market and make an entrance.

I think the B-lady should go. It is easily shown in these pictures why Az-Fer where from a certain PoV against her, she made Genoa more French then Cannes is at the moment.
Go figure!

Some Genoa boat show numbers

147.868 visitors in five days (triple to those of Cannes) and +16% to those of 2016. Over 34000 have been foreigners (+1,5%)
Genoa is coming back, I still think the B-lady should go and the date should be changed and return into the first week of October.
Show is to much in between Cannes and Monaco which started today.

Still encouraging nos for them.

It's a more interesting city too than Cannes for none boaters with v easy access from the airport to the show ,unlike Cannes .And car too !
I,am not familiar or suspect many others on here the "B - lady " thing --- suspect political infighting ?
Can you fill in some of the blanks please :encouragement:

One more thing
Why is the battle of gyros MC2 and seakeeper ( Itama ) taking place on fast planning boats ??
Surely the target audience is small to medium FB,s 40-60 ftr s -- used @ anchor --- I,am I missing something with this nuvo Italian marketing strategy ??

MC2 which is Italian Quick and Seakeeper are looking at the aftermarket. Now the Italian market has since 2000-2010 sold 90% of motor boats where planning.
I would say it was a split of 50/50 to flybridge and open/HT models.
To be fair I do not remember Itama rolling much since they have nearly to nill super structure and central engines also help in this regards. Even tough deep Vee does increases rolling.
Saying this trough experience on was on old eighties 45 which did not move much to wakes by other yachts.

The political story is a bit long.
I think she should go because she changed to much the show into a sailing one to make her bosses happy. That means I can see the pattern of the French.
But she did okay work in the not so easy times of recent years.
Her real test is now with the new legislation to be approved by the Italian parliament for the new Nautical code, with a few important changes needed to be done.

What is the problem with the MCY iron lady,Didn't she use to work for Ferretti

What is the problem with the MCY iron lady,Didn't she use to work for Ferretti

She was Azimut PR stint (for like a decade) and then she managed the whole Gobbi and Atlantis thing before leaving to go to BG in 2009 to form and manage MCY which she has done successfully so far.
One simple answer apart what I said about, is that she represents a French firm with Italian interest. Even though MCY are build in Italy they are still owned by French.
Anyways go in Genoa and you understand what I mean.
