Hi,

Just come down to the boat and it's been off shore power for a few days. Batteries are fine, engines start etc. Fridges working (phew!)

Genny fires up ok. but won't show voltage to the boat AC "grid". i.e. no AC volts showing in the window and the AC light does not come on when switched - see pic (when switched to Gen it's still the same)

Any ideas? I've tried a hard re-boot and pulled all the breakers in the engine room / fusebox but to no avail. Also tried the shore-power breaker that is on deck. I must be missing a major breaker somewhere between the Genny and Boat AC? I also read the manual and did the proper start-up sequence.

Was working a few days ago - typical boat!

Boat is a Targa 44.

Thanks all.

M

BTW when I click the shore/gen and AC 0/1 - there's lots of clicking like breakers moving. It's also not a display issue as if I switch the batt charger on, then it doesn't move the AMP display..

If it's a 7 Kva generator then the main AC breaker is down the side of the generator electrical box.

thanks - does that mean it's on the generator itself i.e. somewhere else but the front panel? I've followed all the high amp cables back to the main breaker box but can't see anything that obvious. Think it's a 4Kva as not med spec with aircon.

My onan 4kw generator has a separate output breaker on the lhs of the main enclosure (I'm not completely sure on the exact position sorry - I traded this weekend on the boat for 12t of concrete...). Have a close hunt around the enclosure, see what you can find. Who's the manufacturer?

I'm assuming it's a factory fit generator so it will be an Onan. The 4 Kva ones should have a AC circuit breaker attacked to the generator on the main panel.

Ok breaking news (!) - I could well be up for dumbest post of the year... I'll wait until 0830 which I consider socially acceptable to start the Genny up and see if my fix works. Been thinking about it all night.

Watch this space, another first-world problem may well have been solved and the ladies can have hot water, charge whatever stuff and I get to have a happy life again!

Thanks for all the help chaps. It appears I was too busy looking at the big red toggle and not the white one above it! All now works. I will feel stupid up until lunchtime and then will adjourn to the pub - whereupon all will be well in the world! Once again, thanks for the help.
