Geneva ice storm

alps over the weekend

i went skiing with some mates in tignes. fab snow but incredibly cold - french meteo refer to it as the Grand Froid. -30 degrees on some tops at night, never above -10 duing the day tho no wind and cloudless skies at least until monday when we'd gone. Very sad these fine boats have been hit.

Re: alps over the weekend

Kate lived there as a kid, went to school there etc. Father worked at Cern. Says she'd never seen conditions like that ever. I've camped out in -20 and -30 and while an experience to savour, not fun for most people. I love it though, and would regard Alaska as a place to emigrate to! <g>

I hope the boats are recoverable, there hasn't been much said about that side, but not many peeps from that area on the forum.

Re: alps over the weekend

well, fresh water and mostly dayboats so i wd reckon quite few recoverable.

Otherwise of course, regarding the alaska thing, you are a nutter. A very cold nutter, probably the sort who enjoys low-freeboard speedboats and windswept balconies with no heating in january :-)

Leave the balcony out of it. It got me Kate <love, hugs, kisses, cos she reads all this crap>

Normandy, Scillies, Channel Islands, Ireland are on club events calendar for this year! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Still, if I emigrated to Alaska, I could post wonderful things about outside temperature, and post incredible pictures of locale by boat?
