Bought myself a new generator today.

My old Kipor has done sterling service, and is still fine. The only thing is that the recoil starter takes a bit of pulling and my old arms are not what they used to be.

So I've treated myself to a Hyundai 2000SEI. it's electric start, with a key. More than that it has a remote control start. So I can lay in my back cabin, in the mornings, and start and stop generator at will, with genny on bathing platform. Heaven!

Bought it off eBay brand new, in box, never had oil or fuel in it. Had a nice drive to Peak District to collect. Battery was flat, but charged it, filled with oil and fuel, and away she went.

It still has recoil starter if battery flat, or I want the exercise!

Just watched the you tube vid of that model. Is it really as noisy as it sounds in the clip? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FFq4AA75ps (5:46 in).

No, it's not that bad. That demo is inside a workshop. It's a bit less than the Kipor, if anything. The figures are 52 dBA at half load and 7 metres. Probably still a bit noisier than equivalent Honda.

Still remember your epic voyage round and up onto the non tidal Thames and travelling in company up to Byrons. Have you been round here since ?

Ah yes, the toaster on the pontoon - another era ! :D
Hi Tony, that was great trip back in 2008, no not been round your way by boat since, although, of course, I live near the Thames.

I still bore everyone with my photos of the trip, with you under Gatehampton bridge!
