Generator Questions

FWIW I have a Honda EU2.0 which I highly recommend. Often overlooked is that they retain their second-hand value and can be sold on without sweat!

I bought a second hand Honda Eu20i 18 months ago. They seemed to be about £1100 new and I got mine for £750. It's running smoothly as we speak.

With the 33% difference, you could buy a large part of the equivalent Kipor.

If you want to annoy other boaters just go ahead and run your noisy little suitcase generators up on the bow while you cower below and avoid all the nasty stares from the other boats.

My "little suitcase" generator resides in the cockpit while in use and one can hardly hear it below deck and standing outside on the bows it is quieter than the eber exhaust.

FWIW I have a Honda 2.0i, it came with the boat (I know, I was surprised too). Like an idiot I forgot to drain the carb float chamber when I put it away last winter and when I started it up a few days ago it surged badly on idle, jumping about like a scalded donkey. Gummed-up jets in the carb was the problem of course and the point of my post is that removing, dismantling and cleaning the carb and jets on the 2.0i was an absolute breeze. Nothing difficult, hard to get at or terribly fiddly. There's even a handy drain tap on the bottom of the carb to drain the bowl when leaving it unused for long periods. Always assuming you remember to do it! :o

Something to think about anyway.

We too have had a Kipor for 5+ years and, given annual self-servicing, it has always started whenever we needed it.

I would buy Kipor again, above other makes. Only alternative I'd consider would be a plumbed-in diesel gennie.
