Seajet 118 Ultra-Build Epoxy Primer seems to be worth considering as an alternative to the much more costly International Gelshield 200 - fewer coats required (2 as opposed to 6) and lower cost for a 2.5 litre can of material. Can anyone out there advise if there is a downside, based on their experience of the Seajet product for protecting against osmosis? On the face of it the advantages of Seajet seem great.

I would add cost to the equation too. Assuming adequate thickness and adhesion for both products (I'm reliant on manufacturer's information) the cost for Gelshield for my boat would be around £660. For the Seajet equivalent, less than a third of this.

Should have added, for just two coats with the Seajet product, control of quality should be improved and much easier to balance the end-toend operation with other pulls on my spare time

Yes but if it is to give the same thickness, then you will require the same volume of epoxy. When you say it is a third of the cost are you allowing for buying the same volume or assuming that you only need one third the volume?

Just asking /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
