Gel coat filler

I have a few small scratches that need to be filled in, and l am going to use plastic padding gel coat filler. I was wondering if you can paint over it.

I have a few small scratches that need to be filled in, and l am going to use plastic padding gel coat filler. I was wondering if you can paint over it.

I have use it quite often to fill in scratches and repair star cracks. I usually overfill a bit, sand back and finally polish to blend in with the surrounding gel coat. I have had to paint over some, where it went a gray colour, I think from absorbing some grit from the fine wet-and-dry paper I used to rub down. The paint used was automotive aerosol stuff. I have also painted over a discoloured bit with alkyd paint successfully.
