I have a ZF gearbox and the oil is stated on the rating plate as SAE 30
I have a parts manual as well that states SAE 30 - API -CD
does it mater what make the oil is or is it all the same if bought as above spec? Prices range vastly by make.

i know the CD part has been obsolete for years with newer spec oils in the SAE 30 ranges.
Any advice?

Any SAE30 engine oil should do, often found in DIY stores for lawnmowers and other 4 stroke engines.

As long as it meets the SAE 30 API CD spec it will work.
