The gearbox ran dry. I am trying to remove the prop shaft from the gearbox. I removed the 4 bolts, but can't get the shaft to slide back so I can inspect the gear box. Any guidance ? ... Nigel

I'm unfortunately in Palamos marina, not the cheapest. I have the boat only since 6 months and English is not my first language, so where do I see if I have a P bracket? The zink anode is on the very end of the shaft after the prop. Where the shaft comes out of the boat, (on my last cm of GRP that guides the shaft), there is another bolt that is stationary when I turn the prop. Could that be holding the whole shaft from sliding aft? Regards

We got it seperated ! It just took a few more taps from a hammer. Thank you for your considerate response. Now the work begins with the gearbox. .. (crewman)

Hi sailorman, this is the skipper of the boat. It was me writing the p-bracket question in Nigels name. I have now my own account. Thanks for the reply. I got the gearbox on the saloon table right now. It's a 'HURTH' (Germany) HBW 250-3R. iA=2,74 iB=2,72 whatever that means. One of the metal circular plates was in two pieces and 2 of the 3 screws also. I guess this is the good news. Replace this, put it back together, put ATF oil in, connect the shaft and clutch and I hope the gearbox should be working again. Any idea if a proper parts supplier should have this in stock? Palomas is close to the city of Girona. Any idea of suppliers there? Would there be a possibility of finding a diafragm of that gearbox on the internet? First thing in the morning is looking for these parts. Thanks for the info. By the way, I am from the country where they make that beer on your picture. If I get it all working; any chance I can sent you a couple of this 8% vol. delights? Regards

Fair enough, I'll let you know tomorrow. I'm trying google to see where's the nearest supplier.(For the gearbox parts off course.)
