hi, got a fairly standard gear selector lever, which i kick, nudge, and wrap the main or jib sheet around alarmingly often

saw a flat large button knurled knob type thing pic on here a few months ago can't find thread. but would be a lot less knockable etc.

or do as my dad did, mount it inside cockpit locker, with a removable 6" inspection hatch for in port etc.

any suggestions/where i can get an alternative to the traddtional?

thanks

There was something in the latest PBO showing various options.
Before I get shot down, if it wasn't the latest, it was very recent.

Many installations recess the lever into a locker side - but then you can't kick and nudge it and it is less likely to catch your mainsheet.

Pays yer money and takes yer choice!

Yep, I remember it, mostly for the drawing of an amorous throttle lever sneaking up someone's trouser-leg :)

thanks for replies.

depending on the size of the hole already in the cockpit side may have to go for diy recessed box, but there was a posting on here a few months ago of a very elegant knurled knob (ooh er) option, off some superyacht i think. but not interested in fancy carbon fibre one any old black one would do me. should be fairly easy to convert a standard lever version if they have some sort of square shaft, and i remove the lock at neutral.
