Hi all
My boat makes an odd noise when changing gear (both engines). She has twin Yanmar 4BY (2) 150’s on shafts with electronic controls.
I’ve had various suggestions, listed below, but want to call on the knowledge of this group to help me prioritise and identify things to investigate/replace.
Possible problems: Flexible couplings, drive plates, engine alignment, engine mounts, dinged prop, cutlass bearings.
When the boat was last out of the water all the stern gear seemed tight and true, no groundings or incidents since then.
There is a little vibration when going astern and around 1400 revs. Boat is 2007 Westwood A34, based on a Broom/Ocean 34 design.
Also, would the boat have 2 or 4 cutlass bearings?
Thanks in advance
