I have a Targa 33 with two AD41P's installed.

On the starboard engine i get a distinct clunk when engaging either gear and a very positive feel of when it's in either gear.

On the port engine i don't get the clunk and it's really hard to tell if it's in gear. There is no distinct feel either way.

the clunk does not worry me as it's what i'm used to with small yacht engines but why only on one engine.

Any ideas please?

MS4 gearbox
Thought they all engaged with a bit of a clunk ?
Allegedly top bit of an outdrive !

You want a good clunk when engaging gears.

If there's no clunk, it could be a sign of a wearing cone clutch.

If so, eventually it will fail to engage, as is beginning to happen to me with the port drive on my T34.

I currently have the old cone, which was recently replaced from my starboard drive, here in front of me on my desk. They make great (but expensive) paperweights.

How many paperweights do you want, have a few!
