Gasket paper source ?

But would'nt the correct gasket be even better?

In my case, given the gross overcharging practised by BUKH (UK) Ltd, I'd say not!

Offhand, I can't think of any gasket on my BUKH engine that I couldn't make myself. The cylinder head gasket used to be of a type that wouldn't be easy to reproduce (fibre with a doubled copper ring around the top of the liner) but they are now made from a different material consisting of two layers of steel foil with a layer of fibrous material sandwiched between them. This material seems to be available from eBay suppliers.

Of course another, overriding, factor often comes in to play; ie Time! Suppose you want to get off on a cruise and need a gasket in a hurry. Do you faff about searching for eBay suppliers, then waiting for the material to arrive, then you have to cut it or, do you phone BUKH and get what you need next morning (albeit at a high price) and be at sea that afternoon? :encouragement:
