Anyone know where to get a sheet of gasket material suitable to go on an exhaust (not manifold).I've tried all the local places and yellow pages but Wimbledon seems gasketless.

the stuff you need is "halite" it comes in rolls so you can cut it to fit.

i used to get it from hydraulic pipe supplies "hyphose" i think... it's used on steam flanges... but not bought it for years

the other stuff iv'e used is an RTV Silicone stuff called "rhodoseal" it's expensive but is ok on exhausts.

hope this helps, steve.

Thanks Steve, its for where the turbo bolts onto the flange and is very pitted, needs padding out with a couple of gaskets,Klingerite springs to mind but can't find any.

Hello Alec
You will need a hight temperature reinforced joint for the turbo flange. 'Flexitalic' is the best brand you can get for this type of application although other jointing company's will produce varients...Wont break the bank either.

I use
Solent Gasket Company
02380 611855

For all my jointing requirements.

Regards
Simon

Ta Simon, found a place in South Chelsea (battersea).Old fashioned engineering establishment I totally forgot about.Hopefully its not the evil stuff we used to use which was wire reinforced, used to come away looking like I'd been attacked by a pack of wolves.

Ah yes...the good old days of steam jointing!!!!

Dont suppose you were ever on the 'British Ranger' by any chance ?...I got to know quite a few of her engineers as we (ESSO) would tie up next to her at the The 'Costa Del Ras-tanurra' terminal?
