What type of gasket cemment would you recommend to use on exhaust elbow were it would come in contact with exhaust gasses and water?.Where can it be got?

Exhaust gasket cement. Specific for the job. Ordinary 'goo' like silicon or Hylomar may not stand up to the heat. Any motor factor can supply.
i was looking for a sealant for the exhaust outlet on the eberspacher, they recomend the silicone type, good up to 340 degrees aparenty.
motor factors or ebay, search for exhaust seal
Funny you mention this, I've had the exact same thing on my hands this winter. The normal gasket sealant does not work here I can tell from personal experience /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I've now bough some special stuff from Volvo Penta that is supposed to do the trick. It's in a white jar, brownish color. PM me if you need details as the stuff is on the boat at present.
Thanks for your reply.A motor factors supplied a product called Holts Gum Tar,which would be ok accept water comes in contact with it and it is showing signs of dissolving,so I would like to have the name of the product you used.I was thinking of making up a seal with bosswhite.
Holt's "Gun Gum" works on exhausts. (Probably not the same Holt as Jack Holt?) Has the added advantages: when you get it on your fingers (and you will) it just peels off when dry; and it is easy to dismantle. Available from Halfords and all good motor factors in tubes and tins.
