Gas versus spirit

I make toast on my origo using one of these:

you need to experiment a bit to avoid setting the bread on fire and move the bread around quite frequently but it does work.

Don't be tempted by the round four slice toaster because that one doesn't work on the origo.

My Centaur doesn't have a gas locker and the retro fit ones that I have seen don't look neat to me.
Well not neat enough to justify cutting holes in a sound boat just to change to gas for dubious improvement in cooking arrangements.
We use an Origo 2 burner job but only miss a toaster. An oven would be nice to have but would mean butchering the inner moulding so it's not going to happen.

The trail sailer has a locker suitable for storing gas safely and we have a 2 burner and grill on that.

If you just have 2 burners there is virtually no difference between spirit and gas cooking wise IMHO. Storing the fuel is the bigest difference.

My Daughter bought one of the 4 slice jobs and found it doesn't work.

I just cook what I can in 2 pans and plan menus to suit. We do BBQ quite a bit, I can do toast on the BBQ.

I don't miss FB pies or pizza or cake or roast dinners, but then I can cook those at home so being on the boat is a change of everything not just scenery.

The single slice ones do. I have one as well. Needs watching from underneath though so you end up making toast in a crouching position. For oven type food the Omnia ovens are good.

I wonder how many of those commenting have tried both gas and spirit.

I have had both. Much prefer gas for convenience and lack of odour, though would have spirit again if I had an even smaller boat again with no space for a couple of small gas cylinders. (On the other other hand the ability to have gas would influence (though not determine) my choice of boat.)

I run my Taylors on odourless paraffin from Caldo.
