Can anyone recommend a gas installation inspector in Southern France that could issue a safety certificate in English.

Despite being previously informed of my cruising plans when I left UK last year my insurance company have now decided they want a survey before extending cover to Eastern Mediterranean.

Have found English surveyor based in France to do the main survey, (at a bit of extra travel cost) but the gas inspection is proving more difficult!

I have got quotes from other insurance companies but they also want Surveys because the last one was 20 years ago when we bought the boat'

I would suspect that your gas safety certificate needs to be issued by a UK registered engineer, that and getting it in English in France renders it next to impossible.

Tell them you're sailing to Ulan Bator and require evidence that their authority to offer insurance in such place meets all local regulations.

Seriously, SS, I don't think you've got a hope. It's hard enough in the UK.
Good luck.

Are the insurance company insisting on a gas safety certificate or is it the surveyor saying he can't do that part of the survey? I'd check with th insurance company exactly what their requirement is for that element of the survey and specifically ask if they'd be content with a document in French and a notarised translation.

Just a note on gas hoses in France, the date on them is 'change before 20XX'

I thought that in the UK, only the inland waterways required gas certs? Not needed for sea going craft.
