For various reasons we have 2 different cylinder types in the cockpit gas locker now (never got round to upgrading from previous owner. Have now bought a larger cylinder to check it works and end up with 2 different ones). One campingaz cylinder (907) and one larger (11kg) calor, each with its own regulator (which are different of course). There is one bulkhead mounted feed to the galley.

I think I know the answer to my questions, but just in case...............

If I put a "Y" piece into the line and connect the 2 regulators to one cylinder each, am I breaking any rules? Do regulators have to match? Are they reliably gas tight when not connected to a cylinder? Will the empty cylinder get filled by the full one if both regulators are open?

Or should I simply use one regulator, one tube and matched cylinders?

I know many on here will say gas is a "no-no" but the benefits outweigh the dangers and we have leak detectors below and are careful.

Thanks, as always.

When I've played around with regulators they haven't worked "backwards" but, as they are designed to work one way, I doubt that it would be sensible to subject them to back pressure for any length of time. I'ld be inclined to play safe and either fit cocks in each line or, as already suggested, a changeover valve.
