Tried to use the oven at the weekend (yes, I know we should have been having salad!).

Anyway, found the oven kept going out. SWMBO said it the flame was dying back but would recover if the oven was opened. I don't think it's the flame failure device - that's happened in the past. I think it's short of air. Loads of gas on the job.

It's a plastimo Neptune 2000. I took the thing home over the winter; stripped and cleaned it. I presume I've not assembled the thing correctly.

Anyway, how does the oven get air? Not something I've ever thought of before! I presume the rock wool lining has strayed somewhere.

I suspect they'd tell me there were no user serviceable parts inside!

I discovered the door is actually glass and that after dismantling and several soakings in oven cleaner I can actually see through it! Bit disappointed that despite the stainless exterior the 'chassis' is steel.

could also be the place where the hot air exits is bunged up

Presume this is at the back too? There's a vertical channel at the back. I assume a hole in the oven must meet up with it somewhere.

The back is enamel on mild steel. And there was a lot of rust. We had a water leak for a while that left pools on the oven. Now fixed but I've had to replace the grill burner.

Next time I feel the urge to clean something I'll resist it.

Plastimo ovens are made by Leisure Products (Bolton) Ltd. Far better to talk to them direct than go through Plastimo. Very helpful when I called them - Dave Watts was the person. 01204 308458

Thanks for that. I think I'll bring it home first.
